2014 Winter League Has Begun - Still Need a Few More Females!

All players must be valid TUC members in addition to paying league fees. For more information on TUC memberships visit this page. A reminder that memberships purchased from Sept '12 - August '13 are NOT valid for Winter League play - to participate on any Winter League teams these members must acquire a new membership. Memberships beginning in April '13 or September '13 are valid for Winter League. As well the Leagues listed below are ADULT Fall Leagues and are intended for Adult (18+) participants only. Here is our Juniors Participation Policy.

2014 Winter Leagues

Please note that TUC Indoor Leagues are 6-ON-6 speedpoint games, 4:2 male: female gender ratio on the field (except Monday Elite/Competitive which will be 3:3), game length is ACTUAL time playing - all taxes are included in our pricing. The Winter indoor season includes high quality playing locations, all of which boast state-of-the-art sport turf: Monarch Park Stadium, Lamport Stadium, Downsview Hangar, and Varsity Centre. All rosters must have a minimum of 10 players (we strongly recommend more than 10) and we recommend a maximum number of 16 players. Hat Teams in the Thursday League will have 12 players.

Games will be scheduled to evenly share time slots amongst teams as best as possible. No schedule requests please.

All indoor leagues use the no-pull format. There are no pulls between points; once the offence scores a point, the disc is placed in the endzone where it's caught and the defense immediately takes possession. For more information, see the Fall/Winter Indoor Rules page.

Wednesday Co-ed Parity League @ Monarch Park Stadium

The popular league is moving to a new night! Parity League at Monarch Park Stadium is played like a regular 6-on-6 indoor game with all the same indoor rules, except it incorporates individual statistical tracking, balanced team competition, and social mayhem! Imagine Fantasy Football blended with our popular Thursday Indoor Hat League. Teams track their own player stats (ie. goals, assists, D’s, drops) and these stats (along with game scores) are submitted weekly. Player values rise and drop based on their statistics. GM’s can trade players throughout the season and are essentially forced to do so in order to stay under time-imposed ‘salary caps’. The end result is more balanced games and even more social variety than a typical hat league…. plus individual Stat leader prizes!

Games are played in the new Monarch Park Stadium which features premier sport turf (and free parking). Registration is by individual only, although players may designate someone they wish to play with. Depending on the registrations, the number of teams will be created accordingly. GM’s draft and tiering details will be announced around the registration deadline.

Divisions: Competitive/Intermediate

Dates: Starts January 29 and finishes April 30 (14 weeks)

Game Times: Games will run from 8:00 - 8:55pm, 9:00 - 9:55pm and 10:00pm - 10:55pm. It is the responsibility of all captains to ensure that all games begin and end on time.

Location: Monarch Park Stadium (All games)

Cost: $190 (you will be placed on a team)

Wednesday Co-ed League @ Monarch Park Stadium

The Wednesday MPS Co-ed League is a 6-on-6 offering and will feature a Recreational division. We will take up to 14 individual players for 1 Recreational Hat team.

Divisions: Recreational

Dates: Starts January 29 and finishes April 30 (14 weeks)

Game Times: Games will run from 8:00 - 8:55pm; 9:00pm - 9:55pm, 10:00pm - 10:55 pm (55 minute games). It is the responsibility of all captains to ensure that all games begin and end on time.

Location: Monarch Park Stadium (all games)

Cost: $2250 per team, $190 per individual

Thursday Co-ed Hat League @ Downsview Hangar

Thursday night will be the same format as previous years (4:2 ratio, speedpoint), but with a slight twist (see below). Registration is by individual only, although players may designate someone they wish to play with. The league will feature 2 divisions of play (Competitive and Intermediate) to balance the competition and there will be 4 teams per division for a more social experience.

*NEW* Here's the twist. This year the Downsview League will be aligned with the Monarch Park Hat League! This means that the Downsview League will feature a 11 week round robin which will include: 9 games within your division and 2 games vs. a MPS League opponent. This means that either in Week 4 or Week 8 you will be required to travel to Monarch Park Stadium for one crossover game. Then the other time during the round robin crossover your opponent will come to you! The round robin will be followed by 2 weeks of playoffs that will determine the Downsview Hangar Champion. The final week of the season (Week 14) we will have the Downsview and the Monarch Park Champions play each other! Location for that game TBD. All other games in Week 14 can be crossover or stay-at-home games depending on team feedback.

Captains are selected by the League Convenors and then a competitive draft is held where each captain selects the players to their team, in order. Those who choose competitive but are not selected are drafted to the Intermediate teams. Recreational players can participate on intermediate teams, but we do recommend some playing experience. Captain's draft and tiering details will be announced around the registration deadline.

This Winter will be the season of the FISH, for which all teams will be named. Be creative! The winner of competitive league takes home the John Harris Hogtown Winter Indoor Disc Livestock Trophy!

Divisions: Competitive and Intermediate

Dates: Starts January 23 and finishes April 24 (14 weeks)

Game Times: Games will be 70 minutes in length (total, including halftime/warmups) from 7:00pm-8:10pm, 8:15pm-9:25pm, 9:30pm-10:40pm, and 10:45pm - 11:55pm. It is the responsibility of all captains to ensure that all games begin and end on time.

Location: Downsview Hangar (one crossover game at Monarch Park, possibly two)

Cost: $210 per individual (you will be placed on a team)

Thursday Co-ed League at Monarch Park Stadium

Please note that if you select 'Competitive' it is not a guarantee. The Winter season is usually a bit more selective due to higher participation numbers. Even if you played competitive in the fall, this does not guarantee you will be drafted to a competitive team in the winter.

Sign-Up

Winter 2013 indoor registration opens November 7.

All players must be TUC members. Regular Membership costs $70 per year and runs from either April through March, or September through August. All prices include HST. All players must sign the waiver of liability form before stepping on the field, member or not. Preferred locations, playing partners, and league categories (competitive, recreational) are not guaranteed, however we do our best to accommodate all requests. Rules regarding game play, substitutions, and more can be found on the TUC Indoor Rules page. Team captains must assist in enforcing the rules. Please abide by the Spirit of the Game when dealing with this (and any other game) issue.

Spirit, Safety & Fields

Spirit of the Game is an integral part of Ultimate. In order to encourage teams to play with Spirit, we are requiring all teams to submit a Spirit score as well as a game score after each game. It is the responsibility of both team captains to submit a spirit score for the other team after every game.

Metal cleats are not allowed under any circumstances. Plastic/rubber cleats are allowed at Monarch Park Stadium, Lamport Stadium, Varsity Centre, and UCC, but NOT at the Downsview Hangar. Running shoes or turf shoes at the Hangar only, absolutely no cleats there! Foot blocks are not allowed except with the explicit prior agreement of both team captains. Any footblock, attempted or successful, should be treated as a foul.

Since field space is difficult to find, the TUC is always concerned about the possibility of losing currently permitted fields. Permits can be revoked if teams engage in prohibited activities or as the result of complaints from neighbourhood groups. Therefore, we remind everyone of the following policies:

  • The consumption of alcohol and recreational drugs is NOT allowed at the fields, whether before, during or after a game. If you wish to engage in such activities, please do so in the privacy of your own home.
  • Use Spirit when dealing with other users of the parks. This means being polite to the people who inadvertently stray onto the field during your game. Also, bring the permit with you to your game to head off conflict with other users of the field.
  • Use common sense and be considerate of the neighbours. This means that you do not pee in the bushes, against the side of a house or in the middle of the field. Also, do not block driveways with your car.
  • If problems arise with fields, such as poor condition or conflict with other groups (e.g. soccer), please bring them to the attention of the league convenor and the fields coordinator. Do not take it upon yourself to solve the problem.

League Contacts

The head convenors for the 2013/2014 Indoor Leagues are TBD.

General questions about Indoor league should be addressed to hangar@tuc.org. All Leagues have their own contact emails; winter-sunday@tuc.org, winter-monday@tuc.org, winter-tuesday@tuc.org, winter-women@tuc.org, and winter-men@tuc.org. However, in order to reduce the flood of emails to the convenor, if you are a player and have a question about the TUC or the league, please ask your team captain first or contact the appropriate person as listed on the TUC Contacts page. Your team captain is your first point of contact with the TUC when it comes to administrative matters.

Hopefully this provides all the necessary information to get your Ultimate season rolling. See you on the field!
