Juniors Ultimate Program 2013Juniors Ultimate Program 2013Toronto Juniors UltimateThe Toronto Ultimate Club’s (TUC) Junior Ultimate Program (JUP) is committed to providing a rewarding, enjoyable ultimate-playing experience for all participants regardless of ability, age or experience, in consistency with Ultimate Canada’s Participant Development Model (PDM) and Coaching Development Model (CDM). Every player should be provided with the opportunity to learn and love the game of Ultimate Frisbee in a positive, fun and safe environment. We believe that love of the game begins with mastery of the disc and that these skills can best be attained through a combination of structured training programs and game play. The Program also gives coaches an opportunity to develop their own passion for Ultimate Frisbee, and the Club an opportunity to stimulate, encourage and promote good coaching practice in a supportive and enthusiastic environment. Our primary objective is to help the children in our community to enjoy the game now; and love it for life. Ultimate is a sport on the rise in the youth ranks and TUC is proud to support local high school leagues and junior events. TUC offers year round junior leagues in two divisions at various locations across the city, below is an outline of our yearly Junior Programming. You can get more details on each of the programs by clicking on the link. We are still finalizing our programming for 2013 so some pages still includes our 2012 information, this information can be used as a general guideline for 2013 as there will be very minimal changes. Junior aged TournamentsAt the end of each February since 2005 TUC has hosted an annual indoor tournament for high schools across the GTA. This celebration of Ultimate emphasizes the Spirit of the Game (SOTG), skill development and balanced competition for those schools attending. Due to the uncertainty of the public school board we have decided to cancel Catch the Spirit for 2013 but it will be back better than ever in 2014. TUC Midseason Tournament – Junior Division (July 13, 2013)In July 2012, TUC ran for the first time ever a junior’s division at our annual Mid-season classic. TUC will again hold a junior’s division in 2013 and we are looking for all junior aged players or teams from across the GTA to come join us. The junior division of the 2013 Midseason tournament will take place on July 13, 2013 at Sunnybrook Park, more information TBA. If you are interested in participating in the junior’s division of the tournament (either as an individual or a team) please contact juniors@tuc.org. Discs and School NeedsIf schools are seeking discs, we urge them to contact us as we can offer disc specials to schools and community groups. All TUC discs are standard approved Ultimate discs. If a school or parent purchases discs, whether with TUC or not, make sure that they are standard UPA approved 175 gram discs! Sadly schools often end up with poor quality discs. View our TUC Shop to see the brands we carry and recommend. Toronto Juniors Touring (GTA Allstars)Also for those Junior Aged players looking for a higher level of play, TUC will be working with the GTA AllStars to provide more opportunities for these individuals to further develop their ultimate skills and to compete at an elite level. Players will be afforded the opportunity to try out for one of the high level touring teams to come out of the GTA. Visit either our Junior’s Touring page or the GTA Allstar website for more information on joining a junior touring team for 2012.
