Juniors Ultimate Program 2012Toronto Juniors UltimateThe Toronto Ultimate Club’s (TUC) Junior Ultimate Program (JUP) is committed to providing a rewarding, enjoyable ultimate-playing experience for all participants regardless of ability, age or experience, in consistency with Ultimate Canada’s Participant Development Model (PDM) and Coaching Development Model (CDM). Every player should be provided with the opportunity to learn and love the game of Ultimate Frisbee in a positive, fun and safe environment. We believe that love of the game begins with mastery of the disc and that these skills can best be attained through a combination of structured training programs and game play. The Program also gives coaches an opportunity to develop their own passion for Ultimate Frisbee, and the Club an opportunity to stimulate, encourage and promote good coaching practice in a supportive and enthusiastic environment. Our primary objective is to help the children in our community to enjoy the game now; and love it for life. Ultimate is a sport on the rise in the youth ranks and TUC is proud to support local high school and junior leagues and events. In the summertime, TUC runs the Toronto Juniors Summer League (TJSL) and in the winter our Catch the Spirit High School Tournament. In the fall TUC runs the Toronto Juniors Fall League (TJFL). We also do our best to attend local school events, like the TDSB and YRDSB school championships, or support local school tournaments with prizing. We also run a Junior Girls Ultimate Programme (JGUP) during the winter. We also offer clinics to schools as well. We do a LOT for Juniors! Junior players must have a parent or guardian sign the TUC Junior Waiver form and submit it to TUC, to be eligible to play. Here is the 2012 Juniors Waiver form which must be completed legibly and submitted to TUC. Furthermore, TUC has a Juniors Participation Policy that must be adhered to by all Juniors. Juniors participating in adult league must also complete and submit the Responsible Adult Form, in addition to the Juniors Waiver form. Toronto Juniors Summer League (TJSL)All players, age 18 and under (recommended 14-18 for Teen divisions), are invited to participate in the Toronto Juniors Summer League (TJSL). The leagues are co-ed and are open to players of all ages and skill levels. The goals of the leagues are: (i) to have fun; (ii) to learn Spirit of Game; and (iii) to improve individual skills and team strategies. All participants must register as TUC members (cost $35/person) and provide a signed waiver form to the TUC office. As a TUC junior member, you are eligible to play in TJSL for FREE in 2012. This junior’s league is a hat league, which means teams are created by mixing the skill levels of all players who sign up. Depending on the age demographics and skill levels of the players, we will offer different divisions as well (beginner/experienced). Team rosters will be posted once the teams are set. The TJSL will be played on various nights and in several locations in 2012, beginning the week of June 18th and will run weekly until the last week of August. The last week of August will consist of playoffs where all divisions across the city will come together at one location to play for the TUC Junior Championships. We will have experienced coaches present at all games. If you have any additional questions or difficulties with registration, contact the TUC office admin@tuc.org. In 2012 TUC will be providing additional programming to the JUP to provide more opportunities for players of all ages and skill levels across the city to learn, develop and participate in Ultimate Frisbee in a comfortable learning environment amongst peers their own age. Not only will we be offering additional locations to our existing Teen Divisions (aged 14-18) we are also adding three (3) brand new youth divisions for players aged 8-13 years of age. Registration for all TJSL Leagues will open in May. Teen Division - Ultimate Players Age 14-18This is the age group known as the Teen Division(s) for our TJSL leagues. Discs and School NeedsIf schools are seeking discs, we urge them to contact us as we can offer disc specials to schools and community groups. All TUC discs are standard approved Ultimate discs. If a school or parent purchases discs, whether with TUC or not, make sure that they are standard UPA approved 175 gram discs! Sadly schools often end up with poor quality discs. View our TUC Shop to see the brands we carry and recommend. Toronto Juniors Touring (GTA Allstars)Also for those Junior Aged players looking for a higher level of play, TUC will be working with the GTA AllStars to provide more opportunities for these individuals to further develop their ultimate skills and to compete at an elite level.
