TUC's Summer HAT event, the August HAT Tournament took place on Saturday, August 11th at Varsity Stadium from 12pm-6pm. August HAT is played in the heart of Toronto on the new state of the art turf fields of the Varsity Centre. Over 80 Ultimate players, both TUC members and non-members of all skill levels came out for this great afternoon tournament. Read on for further details!

Players were grouped into 6 great teams, each representing a different 'HAT' style. All teams played two qualifying games. In the round-robin we saw some great action with a few of the games being decided on universe point. The Blue Fedoras and Yellow Sombreros held the top seeds after round robin play. They would not get a chance to meet in the final as the Black Ascots upset Blue on universe point in the semi's setting up a rematch against Yellow for the tournament title. In an extremely close final match the Yellow Sombreros (pictured above) edged out the Black Ascots 8-6.

Each team was able to select a top male and female MVP that showed great spirit throughout the day. These MVP's were awarded a TUC hat and a case of either Grace Coconut Water and Island Sodas. Some of the MVP's are pictured below.
