See you on the field!

Tundra, Zen, and Mars Meet Venus are working to duplicate the success of other club systems by bringing continuity to mixed division leadership and providing a strong learning environment for developing players. Each team will carry a roster between 18-21 players. All 3 teams are holding open tryouts at Downsview Sports Park on the following two dates:

Saturday May 1st from noon until 3pm
Sunday May 2nd from noon until 3pm

We invite you to come out and meet the leaders and find out what team fits for you. While you need only make one tryout date, we encourage you to attend both as we will be participating in different activities on the two dates, and weather in April can always cancel one date unexpectedly.

There will be a $20 cost to help pay for the field booking.

To register for tryouts, please visit us and fill at our form at www.playwithspirit.com/tryouts/

You will get a confirmation email once you have successfully registered. We wish the best to all participants in this year's tryouts.

TundraTundra

Tundra is a Toronto-based, Nationals-level mixed team looking forward to its 3rd year in 2010. As the top team in the Ultimate Experience Mixed System, our goal is to duplicate the success of the Men’s system by bringing continuity to mixed division leadership and providing a strong learning environment for developing players.

Tundra carries a roster of approximately 18-21 players, while practising twice per week (likely Tuesday/Thursday).

History (2008)

2008 brought together many great players looking to share the same goals: to build a system for mixed ultimate, to have fun and to field a competitive team on the field. Bringing in this wealth of various experiences, skill levels and backgrounds gave us a strong foundation to build strategies, give players new opportunities and position Tundra as a legitimate option for high level touring in Toronto.

As a first year team we are excited with how the team gelled, the improvements of players in the system, the touring opportunities given to new players and the increased role of developing strong female players.

The team finished off a strong debut season by making an appearance at Nationals in Calgary, Alberta. Along the way, we had a number of successful results which we hope to build on heading into 2009.

Zen AsylumZen Asylum

Zen was conceived in 2004 and since its inception has become a stepping stone for an abundance of touring players across all levels and divisions. 2006 saw Zen attend its first Nationals and ended up ranked 7th overall. 2008 was another great year, with Zen being one game away of attending the Canadian Ultimate Championship. We are looking to return to the National stage and 2010 will see Zen blend good competition, fun and improvement (both as a team and individually) into one.

The ideal Zen player will be someone who works hard on the field in games and in practice; and then goes out to be the life of the party. We are looking to consistently put out solid performances and constantly improve our results at major tournaments.

This year Chris Loat will be returning for his 3rd year as captain, and will be joined by Norm Lew and Natalie Wong who both have extensive National-level experience. All three captains are looking forward to a great year with the 2010 edition of Zen.

Mars Meet VenusMars Meet Venus (MMV)

MMV started in 2003 and has been team focused on introducing players to the touring lifestyle. The focus of MMV is skills development which has helped several players move up through club system in both mens, womens and co-ed. MMV is an open roster and invites everyone to come out and practice whether they can attend tournaments or not.

MMV had an amazingly successful season in 2009. They attended 8 tournaments, including 1 tournament where they submitted 2 teams! 2009 had over 50 different people come out to practices and tournaments.

Norman Lew will be returning as the coach of MMV for 2010. The goal will be to give all players a solid foundation of skills to allow them to reach their goals as an Ultimate player. We also always win the party!
