I'll say Cheers to that! (It was fun, but we really wanted to win - thanks for the good game - we had to work hard at it!)

Far from a case of having no fight. More a case of wanting to have fun After a long season of busting your ass it's nice to just enjoy a chill game of ultimate under beautiful skies with your squad

Camper's solid predictions were a good shot at Tuesday, correctly calling one side of the bracket is impressive.
Thanks to the semi-final defeat of Zen, the best record for Tuesday nights (at least over the past decade) remains with Spinning Mules. |

We had nothing left to play against the soon to be champions, The Hive, in the Semi's, but since Zen lost to Toucans, they had no fight and lost to us at Universal point in our finals.
Unofficial results:
1. The Hive
2. Toucans
3. Re-Leashed (way to go team!!!!)
4. Zen
Time to rest up and do it all again tomorrow!
Cheers!
To take it further...

1. The Hive

4. Zen
5. Piggy
6. Fish Eyes
7 / 8. Spinning Mules & Natural Born Flickers

Hey Camper,
Nicely done.
But undefeated is overrated.
Don't forget one thing re: Tuesdays.
Spinning Mules went undefeated a couple of years ago, right up until finals, then lost them to Fisheyes.
Playoffs is a brand new season, even if it is one day long.
take care |

obviously, you've been out of the loop this summer, happy camper.
for your information, in the trash talk before before the mid-season playoffs, charlie hustle was listed as "clearly the team to see topless".
if that doesn't count for something in playoffs, i don't know what does. |

I predict that Johnny will ride the pine on a stacked Goldfish team.....losing his starting job to the faster/better Nigel |

While it is too late to add players to your roster, it isn't too late to cut people from your roster.
If The Deflatbles don't get rid of Creamer, they are going 0-3. |

For the record, we have one touring player who went to nationals. John Rieti played for the Newfoundland Liberation Army, who finished dead last in the Open bracket.
The rest of us have touring experience at Congee Queen.
Please change your predictions accordingly! (i.e not at all)
Siu Long Bau? Yes B'y!!!!
I'm pretty sure that if you add all of Newfoundland liberation army's points from nats, they would have had (close to) enough to win a game... |

Fearless Playoff Predictions*
*from a guy who has not seen more than 4 games of Ulty this year and one of those was the televised GOAT meltdown at Natties (free plug for Rogers!)
MONDAY NIGHT
This used to be a division of substance with classic teams and classic games. Maybe it was not Wednesday league night but it was close, and the teams were evenly matched with great games and often even greater screaming matches abound.
For some reason, 3 of the top 4 teams failed to register for playoffs (this includes the younger squads).
The fact I can look at rosters of the remainders and still recognize over 70% of the names just means that classic has gotten old.
FINALS will be MANDREW vs MONSTER. Old non-touring team versus Old sort of touring team. Nostalgia (and the better league record) makes me stick with MANDREW for yet another Monday Championship (gotta be going on 5 or so at this point).
TUESDAY NIGHT
What was once the quiet division with no touring players has changed significantly over the past few years. New Tuesday entry and touring team ZEN has gone the season undefeated, shaking up what had been a mix of old touring players, young guns who did not tour and other riffraff that called Tuesday home.
Everyone is in for this season’s playoff that will probably see last year’s final teams play each other in a tough QF, last year’s regular season champs take on the playoff champ from 2 years ago in one SF while the other will be an undefeated touring team against the survivor of toughest Tuesday QF.
You have to like ZEN’s chances to walk away undefeated – that is a big motivator for a team.
QF – ZEN, HIVE, MULES all walk to the SF. TOUCANS (a team built for the playoffs) wins over FISHEYES in the only game within 5 points.
SF – HIVE over MULES, 10 – 9. HIVE manages to hold off father time again as regular season and playoffs are not the same thing. ZEN upset by TOUCANS, 11 – 8. Sometimes league is just for fun and sometimes playoffs is where you bring it. Yes, ZEN went to Natties but old people in one day tournies are DANGEROUS.
FINALS – a repeat of the controversial 2009 FINAL with the unforgettable “timeoutgate” situation. What, you forgot about that? Well, maybe it was not that unforgettable. ANYWAY – HIVE won in 2009, lost in the SF in 2010, and will lose a tight 2011 final, 12 – 10. Go TOUCANS of WHOOPASS. Not that I am biased.
*** Please note last year I fudged my predictions in order to better ensure victory. Since I am not playing this year, I can be more open, even if at risk of causing some hurt feelings. Bully for me.
THURSDAY NIGHT
Do we care? We do? Really?
This messed up playoff of teams that could not be bothered to getting themselves around to being called competitive involves a merger between last years champ and finalist (GoLDFISH), some sort of tragic ending to the LAZER WOLVES, SPIDER MONKEY still existing, something called CHARLIE HUSTLE and a bunch of player names that mean as much to me as those found in a Hong Kong phone book (who are you people?).
So – who is better? East or West.
Neither. NO PREDICTION.
Just kidding, east is better. GoLDFISH over SPIDER MONKEY in the FINALS.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT
Wednesday night Ulty. Where the big dogs come to eat. Touring players, touring players and old touring players.
UNION has strung together a 7 game winning streak to take the top seed (after a 5th place finish at coed Natties – where they only finished behind the Champ TFP and the entire province of Quebec) and would be considered the favourite except the REDI has a bunch of crushed GchOkeAT* players looking for redemption and perennial Natties MVP in Walker on the squad.
*GchOkeAT – not sure this name should stick, and boys, I feel for you, I am sure that this one hurt. But this was your year; that was your game; and MAN, IT HURT TO WATCH IT ON TV. I can only imagine what it was like to be on the field. Cause my teams don’t choke like that.
Old and getting older HOT COUSIN (4th in Masters? Really? Losing to FIGJAM? – did you just not want to have to carry home a heavy medal?) could be a factor as the 3 seed but runs into the buzzsaw of REDI in the SF. Hey, let’s not forget last year’s Championship squad SWEET who rounds out the top 4 due to teams dropping out of the playoffs (HAVE SOME PRIDE PEOPLE!).
SF – REDI over HOT COUSIN, 13 – 7. SWEET over UNION, 11 – 10 (I call Universe point!!!).
FINALS will be REDI (redemption) vs defending champion SWEET. Walker is the difference (again) – REDI 13 – 8.
**** I understand that this weekend is Regionals for UPAs and may affect the rosters of several teams (mostly REDI). If that is the case then the teams to benefit the most are those that do not have CAPITALS or GchOkeAT players. Lots of REDI players could be missing – losing Hassell, Linq, McNight and Walker would really hurt. UNION seems to be skipping the co-ed section so they get a benefit. SWEET loses Jones. HOT COUSIN loses… hahahaha just kidding, they do not lose anyone.
SF – repredictions – REDI over HOT COUSIN, 12 – 10 (much closer game now and should be hotly contested). UNION over SWEET, 11 – 10 (the flip flop covers me nicely either way, does it not? I think that UNION realizes that this has to be their year and wins a tight one.
FINALS – UNION over REDI, 13 – 9. Just not enough horses left in the REDI barn and UNION wins its first Wednesday Night Championship (and we are left again without a repeat champion in what is one of the most change prone divisions in sports).

While I am not saying I will not do it, surely someone who has played more than 1 game this summer could do a better job of making some predictions.
Let's get the trash talk going, people! |
