Hello TUC Member

Greetings From The New General Manager

Image My name is Jason Robinson, gm@tuc.org, new General Manager of the Toronto Ultimate Club. In collaboration with the Board of Directors and Executive Committee, I am committed to TUC’s continued growth and enhanced member services. I look forward to meeting many of you throughout the season and working together to build a strong and dynamic organization. Please contact me at any time to discuss your questions and concerns, or pop by our head office – the door is always open.

Communication was identified by you as an area that needs improvement, and critical to TUC’s success. As a result, our dedicated staff and volunteers are committed to providing easily accessible information with timely updates, and transparency in the organization to encourage your involvement. This season we will be in touch more often with more news and events than ever before. We encourage you to share your thoughts and ideas on our initiatives and to actively participate in the genesis of a new TUC. Look forward to receiving the monthly e-newsletter Layout, periodic mailings to your postal address, and year-end Pie Plate to commemorate what we promise to be an outstanding year of TUC highlights. Click here to update your profile (new email/ postal address, etc.) and stay connected to the TUC.

In addition, www.tuc.org is getting a make-over for easier navigation, quicker access to pertinent information, and packed with more information than you can shake a stick at. Visit often to make sure you don’t miss a thing. Some of the priorities we are working on: website overhaul; improved comprehensive liability insurance coverage; field permits (more fields, better quality); finalizing the 2006 calendar; strategic planning sessions to define our mission, vision, values and key long-term goals.

What Say You?

In an effort to keep member & team fees stable, TUC will not include t-shirts as part of the membership package this summer. However, we are working to provide a cost-effective option for teams interested in purchasing t-shirts. We will be polling you shortly about this issue and many others, and encourage you to have your say in 2006. Stay tuned!

Yours in Ultimate,

Jason Robinson
General Manager

Image Catch the Spirit – Volunteers and Participants required!

The Toronto Ultimate Club is hosting the 2nd annual Catch the Spirit Tournament for junior aged players on Wednesday & Thursday, March 1st & 2nd, 2006. This celebration of Ultimate emphasizes spirit of the game, skill development, and outreach to new players. The goals are to raise the profile and skill level of juniors Ultimate in the GTA, and to create a greater sense of community among junior aged players by allowing teams from the different high school leagues in the GTA to meet each other on the field. The pre-season date was chosen to help students shake off the winter blues, refresh their rusty skills and kick off the high school season.

The tournament has two divisions: A division (experienced teams/players) playing Thursday, March 2nd, 16 team limit; B division (beginner teams/players) playing Wednesday, March 1st, limited to 12 teams. Deadline for schools to register is February 24.

TUC needs you to volunteer for this great event. Also please forward this information to any schools who may be interested in participating. Let them learn how to “Catch the Spirit!” For more information contact catchthespirit@tuc.org.
