FALL OUTDOOR LEAGUE UPDATES
Congratulations to our Fall Outdoor Men’s League and Women’s League Champions! In the Women’s Final ‘Seven in the City’ defeated ‘Lily X’. In the Men’s Final ‘T-Stoned’ held off ‘Can You Dig It?’ to capture the title.
The Fall Outdoor Sunday Co-Ed League is now halfway in the books, and perennial favourite Red October is atop the standings and gunning for its 6th consecutive title. Ladder play will conclude on November 11 and the final two weeks of the season will be semis, and finals (teams will be grouped into pools of 8 based on the standings). The Fall League Championship game will take place on November 25, 3pm, at West Toronto CI.
After the final games on November 25 we’ll all head over to Scallywag’s (Yonge & St. Clair) for some drinks and half-priced food. The festivities and presentation of the ‘Barley & Hops Fall League Trophy’ will take place on the upper patio starting at 5pm. All members are welcome to join us!
Board of Directors Update
We are pleased to welcome 4 new members to our Board of Directors team – in our last LAYOUT we did not mention the appointment of Blue McClellan to the Board and we apologize for the error. We are also thrilled to announce that Andrew Hunter will remain as President for the Club in 2008! Your Board of Directors for 2008 are: Sara Beheshti (Chair), Rob Botman, Kirk Brown, Warren Foltz, Andrew Hunter (President), Stephane Levac, Blue McClellan (Vice Chair), Ethan Milberg (Vice President), Cindy Patrino (Treasurer), Max Quijano (Secretary), Mike Pezzack, and Rahil Suleman.
TUC remains a volunteer-driven Club whose success is dependent on the blood, sweat, and tears of its benevolent members. Visit our Strategic Guideto get an idea of where we’re heading. Enthusiastic volunteers are asked to step up to the plate – whether your contribution is big or small, it all helps the Club!
- Lands Committee: for too long the efforts have rested on the shoulders of a small few. Want TUC fields to improve? Have ideas on areas TUC can explore for new fields? Our goal is to assemble a team that can put our Club at the forefront of field developments and find viable solution(s) for our Future Fields Fund.
- Web Site: the web site is improving, but to accelerate the process our Webmaster could use some help! Useful skills include PHP and/or JavaScript development, graphic design (eg. banners, icons), and HTML layout. Zikula (Post-Nuke) experience would be a definite plus, but not necessary.
- Juniors: TUC Juniors leagues and membership continues to grow. But we have yet to REALLY capture the large population of young players out there. Help us welcome young players to TUC and provide an Ultimate offering that is appropriate to their lifestyles.
- School Clinics: 1 or 2 volunteers who can be a liaison between TUC and the school systems to bring Ultimate to schools across the GTA
- Marketing: per our Strategic Plan TUC will be making strides in the area of marketing in 2008. It’s a time to get creative and generate excitement about TUC, who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?
- Volunteers: help us recruit, coordinate, and recognize TUC volunteers!
- Clinics/Social/Spirit/Events/Communications…. we currently have GREAT volunteers on board but they need some help too!
Volunteering for the Club has many benefits. You can help the Club grow and get satisfaction knowing that your contributions have made this Club better. You can bolster your resume and gain experience in the sport field. You can also earn volunteer points that you can spend at the TUC Shop on free Ultimate gear!
