Winter Warm-Up Beginner CLINIC, Dec 3: 7-9pm, Lamport Stadium
Calling all newcomers! TUC is pleased to be hosting a clinic designed specifically for you, with expert coaching from some of the province’s best touring players. This is a beginner clinic, and the perfect opportunity for new players to come out and review the basics of the game. We’ll focus on throwing and catching as well as some simple game concepts and strategies. Our expert instructors will run you through drills and even include some ‘game’ action at the end. The clinic is co-ed and open to new and novice players, and even intermediate level players who just want to work on their skills. Cost to participate is $10 for TUC members and $20 per non-TUC member. Register online by December 1. Bring both a dark and light coloured shirt (for scrimmage) and lots of water to drink!
Email clinics@tuc.org with any further questions. See you there!

TUC Volunteer Appreciation Event
TUC is hosting its annual Volunteer Appreciation event on Saturday, December 5, 2009, from 7-11pm. The function will include a mini-tournament from 7-10pm at the Docks and then some post-game eats and awards at Betty’s Pub. Attendance to this event is by invite-only and for TUC members who have volunteered in 2009.
If you volunteered for TUC in 2009 but did not receive the invite, please contact Aaron at volunteers@tuc.org
A BIG THANKS TO ALL OF OUR VOLUNTEERS IN 2009 for the tremendous support you have provided our Club. Our membership is truly lucky to have a great support group that continues to strengthen and improve the Club!
Interested in volunteering now or in 2010? Contact volunteers@tuc.org. Here are a few current volunteer opportunities:
League Convenors – we are looking for a few new convenors for our upcoming indoor leagues. Interested persons must be responsible and have some organization skills. Convenors are primarily responsible for team communications and setting the schedules FAIRLY and in timely fashion. We are also in need of 1 more convenor for the Wednesday Pickup night at UCC which starts Nov 25 – this person is responsible for posting and monitoring the BBS thread on game days and then coordinating check-in and payments at the game.
30th Anniversary Video Transcribing – watching video interviews conducted by TUC and tracking/recording key moments in the videos. Not glamorous but you get to sit on the couch and watch people talk about Ultimate which is a pretty easy way to volunteer!
Pie Plate Write-Ups: we are going to be seeking some specific write-ups for the Pie Plate magazine. One of the articles we are looking to do involves the progression ladder of the Ultimate player, from beginner all the way up to elite player. We’ll be looking for a few touring player contributions, like a National-level player, high-level player, and someone who has just transitioned from league play to touring. We are also looking for any stories from more "veteran" members to help us revisit the past 30 years of TUC. If you have a story about TUC you would like to share please contact pieplate@tuc.org and let us know about it.
