TUC ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The TUC AGM will take place at 7:30pm on the 2nd Floor at Scallywags. All TUC members are encouraged to attend and participate – all members in attendance are entitled to one vote. The AGM features a report on Club finances, Executive and Board Reports, and Election of the Board of Directors.

We are seeking nominations for NEW Board of Directors members. All TUC members are eligible to be nominated for the Board of Directors. There will be a brief presentation on the role of Board members prior to nominations. Why not get involved in the big-picture activity of the Club?

The AGM will also feature an important ratification to the By-Laws, which you as TUC members have a right to vote on. The Board of Directors is considering a proposal to update and amend the current By-Laws to better reflect TUC’s evolution from a volunteer-only Club to a not-for-profit organization with paid professional staff. The proposed changes to the By-Laws are intended to clarify the reporting and accountability structure for the staff and volunteers. The proposal will be brought forward to the membership at the AGM for approval!

The AGM will conclude at 9pm, at which point we’ll head down to the main floor and join…….

THE TUC SUMMER END PARTY

Yeah baby! Let’s wrap up the summer season with a bash at Scallywags. Party starts at 9pm (same night, Saturday, September 23) and will take place on the Main Floor at Scallywags. We’ll have prizes, a DJ, and more! The party will also be in conjunction with the Zodiac Tournament – all tournament party-goers will join us at the venue. Who knows when the night will end, but regardless we’ll rock the place!!!

Scallywags Bar & Restaurant is located at 11 St. Clair Avenue W, just west of the Yonge & St. Clair intersection.

Fall League begins with Single Gender Outdoor on Wednesday, September 20 and then Co-Ed Outdoor the following Sunday. Fall registration concludes September 18 (OUTDOOR) and September 29 (INDOOR) so be sure to sign up now!

Outdoor Update

-There are a few remaining spaces for Men’s and Women’s Single Gender Outdoor League on Wednesdays. This is a first-come, first-serve opportunity and we have almost filled our field capacity! These games are UNDER LIGHTS in two excellent City locations!

–There is still plenty of room for Outdoor Co-Ed Teams, but once you miss the deadline you’ll miss out on all the fun! Fees are a bargain ($150 per team or $15 per individual) and there’s nothing better than playing Ultimate on a crisp and sunny autumn afternoon. Get your summer team (or new team) signed up now!

Indoor Update

-When registering for Thursday Indoor League, you will be asked a “Preferred Venue” indicating either the Hangar or Metro Sports Centre. Please be advised that this does not guarantee you will only play at one venue. We will tally all results and do our best to place people at their preferred venue; HOWEVER it is very likely that you will have some games at either one, in order to properly utilize our field space.

-Thursday’s signees will also be contacted soon regarding their level of play as we did not include this in the initial registration. All players will be drafted to teams by our Fall Indoor Convenors.

-We need more Tuesday Indoor Co-Ed Teams! This is a new and exciting category for TUC, but we need a few more teams to make it a successful league. You have until September 29 to sign up your team!

TUC’s 2006 National Champions

Congratulations to Touring Teams GOAT (Open division)and Lotus (Women’s division) who captured the title at the Canadian Ultimate Championships in August. Also big congratulations to TUC supported touring teams BMF, DIRT, Eve, Grand Trunk, Lily, MMV, Roy, Snatch, and Zen Asylum on an outstanding showing!

A reminder that not only does the TUC SHOP carry lots of discs, cleats, shirts, DVD’s, and Ultimate accessories, but we also have Daredevil FROSTIE discs and GAIA G4 INDOOR Turf Cleats for sale:

The Daredevil Frostie Disc is made of a softer plastic that’s more suitable for cold weather. Pick one up at the TUC SHOP for only $11.75 (plus GST/PST).

The GAIA G4 Indoor Turf Cleat are a similar construction to the G4 Outdoor Cleat (stiffer, lighter, faster), but with a rubberized, traction-control base instead of cleats. The cleat is available in both men’s and women’s sizing and we have some pairs available at the TUC SHOP for $75 ($95 for non-TUC members) each, plus GST/PST.
