Hello TUC Member

We’re not sure if the groundhog REALLY saw his shadow, but warmer weather should be around the corner. Of course that signifies the start of the new membership year for TUC! Starting Monday, March 19, registration will be open for individual TUC Membership and Spring League sign-up (Spring League is FREE with your TUC membership). That’s next week!!! Summer Team registration will open the following week, beginning Monday, March 26.

Be sure to get all your friends to sign up for their individual memberships early and captains get your teams signed up for the summer. Summer Team registration closes Tuesday, April 24.

Your 2007 TUC membership is valid from April 1, 2007 to March 31, 2008. This annual fee is used to cover the Club costs of two professional full-time staff, as well as membership packages and insurance coverage. A portion of your membership ($25) is also allocated to our ‘Future Fields Fund’ which is used to develop existing TUC fields and/or acquire new ones.

Your TUC Membership privileges include:

• Free membership package including a new one-of-a-kind Spirit of the Game disc, a copy of the new 11th edition UPA Rulebook, and other goodies;
• Free TUC events – skills & theory clinics, new & improved parties, hat tournaments, Midseason tournament, Playoffs tournaments;

As mentioned, Summer Team Registration begins Monday, March 26 and closes Tuesday, April 24. Team fees for Summer League will be $750 per team. This is a slight increase (roughly $3 more per person) from last year and it will easily be worth it. We are working on some great new improvements to our Summer League this year, including:

• More games at Sunnybrook Park
• Games at the new downtown Varsity Stadium
• Games at the new Birchmount Stadium
• New tournament in June that will host TUC teams
• Increased emphasis on Spirit and your enjoyment of the game
• New pyramid structure for Tuesday League (and possibly Thursday, TBD)
• Champions League-style event at the end of summer season (sponsored by Scallywags) which will pit the best teams/players from each weeknight league against one another

Key Registration Dates

Spring league is a great opportunity for new players to learn the game, and for experienced players to rev up their skills for the summer. Join us this Spring for great Ultimate on the beach!

Spring League is played on the beach of Ashbridges Bay. Games commence at 6 p.m. sharp to maximize daylight hours. Players register as individuals and the number of teams is dependent on final registration numbers. Spring League games are played on Mondays for Women and Wednesdays for Men. The final league games are scheduled for May 14 and 16.

It’s back!!!! The TUC All-Nighter Tournament returns to the Downsview Hangar, on Saturday March 31, 12am – 7am. Last year’s event was a ton of fun and supported a great cause. This year’s All-Nighter will see all net proceeds donated to Easter Seals; supporting children with disabilities who need equipment and resources to succeed in life.

Like last year the tournament will be a hat format. Teams will be drafted and all participants will be notified in advance of their team, shirt colour, schedule, etc. Water, fruit, and bagels will be provided but don’t forget to bring your power bars or coffee! There will be prizes for the winning team as well as best spirited and lowest score team. There will also be a special prize for the most originally dressed player of the night; so gentlemen get your skirts ready!
