March Volunteer of the Month – Kate Jardine Kate Jardine is our volunteer of the month for March. Kate a player on Lotus, one of Toronto's women’s touring teams coached the Junior Girls Clinic in the winter, one of the Women's League teams, and was one of the clinic instructor at the Women’s Intermediate Indoor Tournament in March. Thanks to Kate for sharing her experience and game skills with the next generation up and coming TUC players. TUC is always looking for more great volunteers like Kate to help with the continued growth of Ultimate. For more info on how to get involved, contact volunteers@tuc.org. Volunteers positions now available League Conveners Wanted: Are you interested in being a league convener? TUC is looking for members to help convene our spring and summer leagues. Conveners communicates with team captains; sets the weekly schedule; fields complaints; reports spirit problems/issues/ and all other issues to League chair/MDCM. LESS THAN 3 WEEKS REMAINING TO REGISTER A TEAM FOR SUMMER LEAGUE All teams planning on participating in our Summer Leagues has 3 weeks to complete registration. Summer league registration closes on May 6, 2011 so don't miss out and register now. How to Register Registration is done online at www.tuc.org. TUC Membership 2011 All players in TUC leagues must first be a valid member of TUC, as our Club is a true not-for-profit organization driven by its membership. The new TUC membership year begins April 1, 2011 and runs through to March 31, 2012. Therefore, in order to play in Spring or Summer Leagues in 2011 you must renew your membership or signup for a new one. Then you complete your league fees. If you registered for a membership in the Fall (2010) or Winter (2011) those memberships were pro-rated and do not cover the new membership year. So first and foremost, register for your TUC 2010/2011 membership! Visit our Membership Information page for more details. 2011 Summer Leagues Summer League information is now posted on our Summer League General Info page and our Summer League Registration page. Team fees for Summer League will be $850 per team and individual fees (for those who want to register as a solo player on a hat team) are $65 per person. The cost for a game on a per-player basis for the summer is an average of $4 per person. Summer season is 15 guaranteed games, co-ed 7-on-7, games to 17, full field. Captain's Meeting The Captain’s meeting will again be held Wednesday May 18th, at Whistlers Bar and Grill (Broadview and Mortimer) in The McNeil Room. This meeting is for ALL weeknight summer teams. Each team captain MUST attend the meeting or send a team rep. Any team who does not send a representative will be penalized – expect the majority of your games to be on lesser desired fields if you do not attend the captains meeting! The Ontario Disc Sport Association (ODSA) is currently seeking input from its Ontario Clubs and players, including the touring community, in order to effectively respond to the needs of Ultimate players province wide. Please view the ODSA's plan to grow the sport of Ultimate in Ontario.
